Ronald A. Fischman, MD, FACP, FASN, is the co-founder of Southland Renal Medical Group in Long Beach, Downey, Fountain Valley, and Los Alamitos, California, and a leading board-certified nephrologist and internist. His goal is to make Southland Renal Medical Group the best nephrology practice in Southern California.
An extremely invested physician, Dr. Fischman designed the practice’s quality assessment program, which emphasizes high-quality care, comprehensive service, patient education, patient well-being, and patient satisfaction.
Dr. Fischman earned his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Columbia University in New York City. Later, he received his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Dr. Fischman then completed nephrology training in New York City at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center
Since 1980, Dr. Fischman has led the nephrology and dialysis communities in Southern California in a variety of capacities — he’s chaired committees at numerous hospitals and hospital systems, and he’s worked as an inpatient and outpatient hemodialysis program director. In addition, at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in West Carson, California, Dr. Fischman has served as a member of the clinical faculty. He also sat on the governing board and worked as chief of staff at Lakewood Regional Medical Center in Lakewood, California..
Today, Dr. Fischman is a Fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology. In addition to Southland Renal Medical Group, he works for both DaVita Healthcare Partners and Fresenius Medical Care as a senior medical director at a number of area dialysis facilities. He’s also founded several independent physician organizations.
When he isn’t serving patients, Dr. Fischman spends time consulting and advising multiple medical groups in Southern California.
In his free time, Dr. Fischman enjoys playing golf, traveling, and spending quality time with his family.
